The Red Violin
(a film by Francois Girard), starring Samuel L. Jackson, Greta Scacchi, Jason Flemyng, and Don McKellar. A mysterious historical tale of a violin that weaves through time creating an epic adventure that has been foretold by the tarot cards. The film begins in the past, and then switches to the present, and continues to weave the tale through a unique use of flashbacks across that seas and in several countries . (Note: be sure to have subtitles on because the scenes that are done in other countries the actors speak the native language of the country that part of the story is taking place in).
A friend of mine loaned me this movie because it had tarot cards in it. My husband and I really enjoyed it. It took awhile to warm up to movie, but the story pulls you in and as the story unfolds it gets more and more intriguing and builds to an exciting conclusion.
