This is just terrific! What a way to really pay more attention to a deck than to become part of the creation.

So, here is something I've been wondering. Do all tarot decks have the same basic card values, only with different themes and illustrations? Or will you get different results with different decks?

Mavigan - a basic tarot deck that is a take off of the original 78 cards would have similar themes (but usually different styles of illustrations). But there are many different types of decks out there now - some with less cards, some called oracle decks. For example when I do the a free reading here - I use 3 cards from a traditional style deck, and I also draw 1 card from an oracle deck.

In chosing a deck, I think it's important to chose one that a theme and illustrations that speak to you personally, that you feel a connection with. The images and book meaning of the deck is just a starting point to understanding the deck.

In essesence any deck used is like a "key", or a way to unlock one's intuition and higher wisdom.

Hi Lady Rose,
I have noticed that I have started dropping on couple of your blogs since my entrecard allowed me to after the crash. I have not gotten a drop from you in return. Maybe things are hard for you now, if not and I did something to upset you, please let me know,
Take Care,
Janet :)

Hey Randilin from the Pagan bloggers network. I’m just surfing through the various members today and checking out the blogs and visiting. Thanks for being apart of our little group.

I love the colour your own tarot deck pages and the Barbie and Buffy ones were just plain scary

Thank you Lady Rose. That helps! You answered my next question before I asked it - namely, how does one pick a deck. :)

Just out of curiosity, have you ever used runes at all?

Mavigan - glad it helped. If you have any other questions about tarot please feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer.

I have a couple sets of runes - just for the sake of having them, I've never used them for more then an occasional short yes\no sort of inquiry. I find the rich design and symbolism of the cards for me to be a better key for unlocking intuition.

{The Barbie deck actually made me grimace.} Thank you for sharing. This was way too cool of a post!
